I met digital artist Ron Crabb a couple years back and he was really instrumental in helping me launch my own career in media. Ron and I recently worked together on the Champion Zone DVD where I was once again astounded by Ron’s incredible skill. Earlier this week a buddy of mine who works at Sucker Punch Productions, Marc Wentz, sent me his hilarious interpretation of Ron’s “Keep a Sharp Eye”, that Marc entitled, “Keep A Sharp Eye Me Young Padawan”. Marc wrote:
Basically, I saw “Keep a Sharp Eye” on CGtalk one day at work, and while I was busy being blown away by it, my coworkers saw it on my screen over my shoulder, and after some admiration, we came to the conclusion: “They should be holding light-sabers.” I couldn’t help but open Photoshop immediately.
Ron’s response to this interpretation?
This was a scream—and very well done! Funny stuff. Good artist that Marcellis!
Way to keep a sharp wit Marc! I hope you enjoy Ron’s great work and Marc’s great sense of humor.

Great news from Jill Keto earlier this week. Her Ten Tips Video combined with her mad networking skills landed her a TV appearance later this month on a national morning show. More on that in the coming weeks. Congrats Jill!

This is the be-all and end-all of extreme sports. As my good friend Mark Booth writes:
Next time you decide to drop in on a neighbor, or you’re late for work and need to beat the traffic jam just ahead…save money on airline tickets, or simply get a cup of coffee at Starbucks, think of doing things in Norwegian style.
If you are afraid of heights, stay away from this video at all costs. If you happen to venture a visit, be sure to watch in full-screen.

Six8 Media is working with Worldview Matters to leverage social media and get their great message out to the masses. A few weeks back, Chuck Colson, of the Wilberforce Forum, was kind enough to endorse God’s Pleasure At Work in this video shot by Peter Buck of Waterford Productions.

Kudos to the Coopers at Cameography for winning Blu Domain’s win-a-website contest with a great digital story of their cost-cutting Christmas. Says Corban:
“Starting this past Christmas, my wife and I went to Value Village and spent $20 on each other. She got me a hip cool Kenneth Cole shirt, socks, Coffee Maker and Coffee Table that she is going to refinish!!! $20 goes a long way at Value Village and in this economy, it’s shopping smart!”

Several weeks back I contacted Hanson Hosein at UW’s MCDM via LinkedIn to connect him with Jill at Practical Chic. Hanson contacted Jill and now it looks like they’re on the move to further tap into the groundswell and catapult Jill’s book to the stars. Hanson writes on Flip the Media:
I’m going to propose an MCDM partnership to my Multimedia Storytelling students, as she begins her marketing campaign in earnest (which she describes as “placement, word-of-mouth and television”) in the next few weeks. She’ll be a guest in our third class, and one of our assignments could be to figure out how to produce some short, MCDM-branded online videos that capture the book’s practical, humorous essence. Jill is supposed to be leveraging traditional media with possible TV appearances on Good Morning America and Today, so it’d be interesting to see what we can do on the social media storytelling side (and how much attention we can garner for our program).
Hopefully the MCDM-Practical Chic parternship will produce a year of financial modesty for women all across the country.

I just wrapped up Practical Chic’s new video, with Jill’s Top Ten Tips for Surviving the Recession. This project was a reminder of why I chose writing as a career rather than editing but I had a lot of fun and am happy with the results. Check it out when you get a chance and keep an eye on Jill’s progress toward the NY Times Best Seller list. Her revised and updated book is available on December 30.

Currently I’m working with Impact Video & Audio on a great new project with Mutt Mitts. Mutt Mitts has been around since the late 80’s and I’m working with them on a great new approach to get dog owners to do their duty and pick up after their pooch. Mutt Mitts has a patented product, a happy customer base, and an on eye on being the top dog. Check back soon for the whole scoop and some fun videos.

Later this afternoon I will be meeting with Elliott Neff, CEO of Chess4Life. Elliott is a Chess National Master who uses chess as a means to teach kids valuable life skills. He produced a great chess instructional DVD series and runs a successful chess club in Bellevue, WA. Recently I worked with Elliott on The Champion Zone with Brett Favre that is now in post-production. Elliott and I are discussing the possiblity of partnering together to get his message out using social media. We’ll see how things play out but I’m excited by the potential to add yet another client who wants to leverage digital media to teach life skills to kids.
